RFID is an outstanding key technology for Europe. From 2006 to 2008 European RFID users and vendors cooperated within the initiative "Coordinating European Efforts for Promoting the European RFID Value Chain" (CE RFID) in order to improve the conditions of competition for RFID technology and its further development in Europe and to reinforce the political environment of RFID at European level. Have a look at the results of CE RFID and their presentation at the conference "Towards a European Policy on RFID".

The initiative contributed to the Working Group RFID/Logistics within EPOSS, the European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration. CE RFID was also member of AITPL, the Ambient Intelligence Technologies for the Product Lifecycle Cluster and of CERP, the Cluster of European RFID Projects.

High Level Expert Conference: Towards a European Policy on RFID

The partners of CE RFID were proud to present the results of the manifold discussions in the field of RFID, such as R&D issues, standards and regulations, guidelines, legal aspects and an RFID roadmap. Recommendations for a European RFID research policy and a proposal for a Sustainable European RFID Network were presented on 19 September 2008, during the expert conference "Towards a European Policy on RFID" in Brussels.

“Race networkRFID” continues the work of CE RFID

Following the successful conclusion of the CE RFID project, the European Commission has initiated the "RACE networkRFID”. This network broadens the scope of the topics addressed within the CE RFID project and aims at creating a platform to the benefit of all European stakeholders.

The members of CE RFID and of the successor network RFID IN ACTION also welcome the initiative RACE networkRFID and support a common effort of all parties participating in RFID IN ACTION to join this new initiative in order to create synergies and improve the conditions for RFID technology in Europe.
